Fourth Degree members of Holy Rosary Council No 2839 pose with State Chaplain Rev Brian Danner on the steps of St. Mary's Church in Mapleton. This was Father's last mass at the parish before moving to his new assignment.

The Knights participated in all aspects of ministering at Mass: lector, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, servers, cantor, ushers, and gift bearers.

Council 4208 used to have Corporate Communions, but that died many years ago.  It would be great to revive this tradition, but it would be important to make sure that families feel invited to participate and not separate the Knights from their families.  My take on things in the Knights of Columbus is that it should be a FAMILY organization to the maximum amount possible which, in my mind, means having it be limited to men only during business meetings and during exemplifications.  [Side note:  I am a BIG fan of secrecy to a large extent because of the awe it gives to young people (< 18 y old) and because of the pleasant surprise well done exemplifications can provide men new to the exemplifications.]

This is a fantastic manifestation of fraternal unity in Christ.
