Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 Serves Omelets for Victims of House Fire

Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 of the Knights of Columbus decided quickly that all funds received at its omelet breakfast January 19 would be dedicated to the Zemler family, which lost its home in a tragic fire this winter. Doug Zemler is a Third Degree Knight.

Omelets, toast, juice and coffee were available for a good will donation at St. Mary’s Parish in Spirit Lake. The entire community seemed to show up, thanks to advertising and press releases published by the Lakes News Shopper…

Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 to Hold Spelling Bee

Area boys and girls in grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 are welcome to compete in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee. Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 is sponsoring the always-entertaining contest February 11 at the Spirit Lake Middle School music room. On-site registration – requiring a parent’s signature – will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the hallway outside the Music Room at Spirit Lake Middle School.

Spirit Lake K of C Crowns Youth Free Throw Champions

SPIRIT LAKE – Thirty girls and boys ages 9 to 14 participated in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship last weekend, and six earned the right to compete at the regional level. Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 in Spirit Lake sponsored the local competition at Spirit Lake High School.
