Immaculate Conception Marian Icon continues to move around the state

The Immaculate Conception Prayer Program began August 7 at the 131st Supreme Convention in San Antonio, Texas. It began traveling the state in September, and since then it has visited some 150 councils, which includes over 250 parishes, religious education programs, nursing homes, and Catholic grade/high schools. Iowa Catholic Conference Newsletter - Jan. 23, 2015

This week is Catholic Schools Week and the Iowa bishops have released a statement in support of Education Savings Accounts. ESAs would allow parents who choose not to enroll their children in a public school to receive a deposit of public funds into a savings account set up by the state. The money could be used for nonpublic school tuition.

VA Seeks Ongoing Donations of Books, Magazines, and Games

The VA Central Iowa Health Care System has asked for the Iowa Knights of Columbus help collecting used books, magazines, and games for use at their Des Moines facility. The items will be used by the Veterans who are patients and by visiting Veterans and families in the waiting areas.

First week of the legislative session, Iowa Catholic Conference
