On February 28th, the LC Clinic dedicated their new building in Creston. The building had been rented to Planned Parenthood before they closed their doors in July of 2014. Through the generosity of a local donor, the LC Clinic completed the purchase of the building on the 24th of February. SCHOOL START DATE
You may have been hearing some discussion about a “start date” for Iowa’s public and nonpublic schools. Iowa law requires schools to start no earlier than the week that contains the first day of September. However, for many years the state has allowed schools to get a waiver and pick an earlier date to start school.

Several members of the Decorah Knights attended the Travel Gavel meeting in Waukon on Tue 10 Feb 2015. In addition to the regular members, three members of the northeast Iowa Knights of Columbus insurance team were in attendance: Mike Bormann, Dan Conlon, and new field agent Wally Witt. LAST WEEK AT THE CAPITOL
The Iowa House Education Committee passed a bill last week to provide additional spending flexibility for community-based preschools, such as Catholic schools, that participate in the state-funded preschool program.
