This year the Iowa Knights of Columbus will be even more involved with the Christ Our Life Conference in Des Moines on September 24th and 25th. Paul Lee will be leading the Rosary Sunday morning. And when people come into the conference on Sunday, they will receive a flyer that promotes the Consecration to the Holy Family and a prayer card with that prayer. During the closing Mass Knights will lead the attendees in this prayer of consecration.

The Prefect for the Congregation of Divine Worship and Discipline for the Sacraments (the Pope’s chief liturgist) has called on all Catholic priests to start offering Mass ad orientem (facing East), beginning on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2016. Lately every week seems to bring news of a violent tragedy that has taken place in our country. These events have brought new attention to related public policy issues as well.
Here in Iowa, the Legislative Council approved a one-day study committee to examine the causes and impacts of, and possible remedies for, increased levels of violence. Thom Mahr will be hosting the District 7 District meeting at his home at 6889 Robin Ave. Monday evening July 25 at 6pm sharp. There will be brats, other meats, and beverages served.
I have had the distinct pleasure in the last week to have a sit down and visit with His Excellency, R. Walker Nickless, Bishop of Sioux City. As part of that visit, there was a gathering of District Deputies from the Sioux City Diocese, who were invited to the Bishop's residence to hear a message and receive an invitation from him directly.
