Welcome to a new fraternal year! Each July, there are changes in the team of officers, yet the mission of our order and our council remains constant. Since May 6, 1956, the day that Council 4208 received its charter from the Supreme Council, we have embraced the call to continue the work that Venerable Father McGivney envisioned.

Several members of the Decorah Knights attended the Travel Gavel meeting in Waukon on Tue 10 Feb 2015. In addition to the regular members, three members of the northeast Iowa Knights of Columbus insurance team were in attendance: Mike Bormann, Dan Conlon, and new field agent Wally Witt. They provided inspirational and helpful information.
This presentation, at 1 PM on 17 January 2015, will provide fraternal leaders with tips and techniques to build strong councils as well as provide helpful suggestions to make the Knights of Columbus the most effective charitable service organization in their parish and community.

Area boys and girls in grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 are welcome to compete in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee. Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 is sponsoring the always-entertaining contest February 11 at the Spirit Lake Middle School music room. On-site registration – requiring a parent’s signature – will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the hallway outside the Music Room at Spirit Lake Middle School.

SPIRIT LAKE – Thirty girls and boys ages 9 to 14 participated in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship last weekend, and six earned the right to compete at the regional level. Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 in Spirit Lake sponsored the local competition at Spirit Lake High School.
