12 Year Old from Humboldt Wins 2014 International Free Throw Championship

Jacob Thurm of Humboldt was crowned as a 2014 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Champion (12 Year Old Division). Jacob participated in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and represented Saint Mary's Council 8592 based in Humboldt.

Jacob completed 24 successful free throws out of 25 attempts during the Iowa Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship Finals in order to become eligible for consideration for the international award.

Jacob was presented his International Championship trophy by State Deputy Dan Werner at an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the annual summer picnic of Council 8592 held on July 14th.

Joining the State Deputy for this presentation were State Secretary Jon Aldrich, Program Director Jason Follett, Church Director and District Deputy 4 Andy Milam, Youth Director Bob Ukena, and District Deputy 17 Russ Wendel.

The Thurm family was also represented by Jacob's brother, Isaac, who placed second in the 14 year old bracket of the Iowa Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship Finals.

Congratulations to Jacob and Council 8592 for representing Iowa in the 2014 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship. We look forward to you successfully defending your title in 2015.
