The 2014 Eastern Iowa camp out will be held at Walnut Acres Campgrounds at Monticello, Iowa on August 21-24th. Some of us come a day early. Please feel welcome to join us. It is located at the north end of Monticello on highway 38. This will be the 19th anniversary.
The theme this year will be "HALLOWEEN"
Please make your own reservation with the campgrounds and state you are with the Knights of Columbus. That way they will keep us in our group. If you don't camp, you can still stay at a motel in Anamosa or Cascade. You are welcome to come for the day if you don't camp.
2014 State Camporee SCHEDULE
August 21th - Thursday: The early birds go out for supper at a local restaurant.
August 22th - Friday: Registration 4:00 to 6:00p.m.
Wine and Cheese Party from 7:00 on at the pavilion (Bring wine and cheese/snacks to share). Campfire after party.
August 23th - Saturday: Registration: 8-9 a.m. at pavilion.
Here Dummy tournament registration 10 a.m. Please bring your boards to the camp out for us to use for the tournament.
General Meeting at 2:00 p.m. at the pavilion.
Mass at 4:00 p.m. at the hall. Fourth degree please dress in your regalia.
Potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the hall. Bring your food along with your own table service. After potluck, in the pavilion at 8:00 p.m. we will have a judging of the best Halloween costumes for adults and children. Three places each group. We will also have some games for entertainment. The camp fire will follow.
August 26th - Sunday: Free coffee, juice, milk, and donuts at 8:00 a.m. for all KofC campers at the pavilion.
Collection of nonperishable foods and monies to be given to the local parish priest to be distributed by the local parish food bank. Bring to my camper.
Note: the camporee is open to non campers who would like to participate in the pot luck and camporee activities. There are motels in the area or you can come out and spend the day with us if you live close by. Please invite your fellow knights to the camp out, or even a potential fellow knight.
