Two Honor Flights for Greater Dubuque veterans of World War II and the Korean War had successful trips on 24 and 25 September 2012.
Honor Flight is a whirlwind tour of the national war memorials in Washington, D.C. Participants fly to the nation’s capital, tour the memorials, and return home all in one day. So far six Honor Flights have left Dubuque with each trip costing $80,000. Dubourg Assembly 1573 donated $1000 to help fund these two recent flights.
At Dubuque’s Grand River Center, the veterans were greeted with a warm welcome home from many veteran groups and an Assembly 1573 Honor Guard. Six Sir Knights of Assembly 1573 who were on the Honor Flight were overwhelmed when they saw the Assembly 1573 Honor Guard upon their return.
Organizers once again expressed appreciation to Assembly 1573 for their continued financial and Honor Guard support of the Honor Flights.
