College Knight’s Mission Trip to China Supported by Iowa Knights

For over the past year, Mike Kremske has been praying for opportunities to grow in the virtue of charity. While spending much time praying over an opportunity to serve others who are in need, his prayers were answered.

Kremske, a Knight at Council 14977 which serves Drake University in Des Moines, was called by a FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) missionary to join him on a mission to work with the underground Catholic Church in Asia. This opportunity was a perfect fit as Kremske had been reflecting on the great need of the persecuted Catholic Chinese people that need the light of Christ and His peace.

Being a university student, Kremske had to raise the majority of his missionary expenses. Further, he had to do some of the fundraising quietly since his trip, serving Catholic Chinese, could put him into harm’s way with the Communist Chinese government. Thus, Kremske reached out to many Catholic parishes, individuals, and organizations like the Knights of Columbus. Councils in Iowa who supported Kremske included: Council 644 in Des Moines, Council 2663 in Newton, Council 11643 in Des Moines, Council 12130 in Granger, and Council 13109 in Altoona.

Having just returned, Kremske shared that the trip was incredible and “the Holy Spirit was at great work”.
