On Wednesday, October 29th, General Sheridan Council 1228 of Creston presented a check to Ruth Fennessy, Executive Director of LC Clinic of Stuart with the local council matching funds for their new ultrasound. Mrs Fennessy brought the new machine with her and provided the Knights with insights on how important the new machine is to the clinic. She also gave the Knights an update on the search for a location in Creston for their satellite office.
Fr Ken Halbur, Holy Spirit Pastor, blessed Mrs Fennessy and the new machine. Our Worthy State Deputy, Dan Werner was able to participate in the check presentation, blessing and to thank the council for "making a difference." It was a very relaxed and pleasant completion to this initiative which is one of five in the state this year.
The Creston ultrasound initiative started at the end of July with fundraising completed for the machine itself by the end of August. A trap shoot event was held in September with the proceeds going towards ultrasound training. The new machine and the check from Supreme both arrived within minutes of each other on October 20th.
In a Holy Spirit filled twist of fate, the LC Clinic is in negotiations to obtain the building that Planned Parenthood vacated this summer when they terminated operations in Creston and Red Oak. Now that's the kind of termination that Planned Parenthood should do everywhere!
Brother Knights, please keep this clinic and all the incredible people who work to save the lives of our smallest brothers and sisters in your prayers.
