Dedication of TEN COMMANDMENTS on Father's Day
A brief dedication ceremony for 'Project Moses' -- the granite monument with the Ten Commandments on one side and the eight Beatitudes on the other -- is scheduled for Sunday, June 16 at 10:00A.M. at St. John Catholic Church in Onawa. (Mass is at nine o'clock with the ceremony immediately following.)
How better to celebrate FATHER'S DAY than by honoring OUR FATHER in HEAVEN? Elevated on a foundation of stamped concrete surrounded by lovely rose bushes, this gleaming monument is a testament to our love for Jesus Christ and benefits ALL of us in our community by helping foster renewed respect for God's laws and serving as a visually powerful reminder that He is always with us.
Everyone of all denominations in the community and surrounding area are invited to attend and bear witness to the formal on-site blessing of this beautiful and magnificent monument. The dedication will be conducted by Fr. Patrick O'Kane.
Breakfast will be served by the Knights of Columbus beginning at 8:00A.M. until 11:00A.M. with proceeds to benefit the Sioux City Diocese Vocations. Serving will be suspended for the dedication and resumed afterward. Everyone is invited to enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages and beverages either before the dedication or after.
This project is sponsored by the Onawa-Blencoe Knights of Columbus Council #6249 and made possible only with the generosity and support of our parishioners and caring friends and the blessings of our Lord.
