Goals for District 15 for the 2017-2018 fraternal year

District 15 leaders, here's a reminder of some of our most important goals as we move forward this fraternal year (2017-2018):

(1) Pray the Rosary daily publicly and/or privately. Don't even try the things below without doing this and without, at a minimum, offering the holy Sacrifice of the Mass each Sunday.
(2) Your Council should bring at least one new man into your Council per month, and individual members should be empowered to recruit. Watch The Power of One: http://iowakofc.org/video/power-of-one-knights-of-columbus
(3) Strengthen the band of brothers that your Council is called to be. "Power of 10 (ten) for recruitment & retention": http://iowakofc.org/profiles/blogs/power-of-10-ten-for-recruitment-retention
(4) Make monthly meetings more engaging & interesting.
(5) Get a Formation-degree team up and running.
(6) Get forms, which are the communication lifeblood of the Order, turned on time or, better yet, ahead of time.
(7) Serve your parish by "Building the Domestic Church": http://kofc.org/un/en/domestic-church/index.html

Goal for winter/spring 2018:
Every Knight in district 15 (and even non-Knight parishioners) should sign up for free as members of the Father Venerable Michael J. McGivney Guild: http://www.fathermcgivney.org/mcg/en/contact/register.html

Under # (3) above, Councils should get members at meetings the names and telephone numbers of council members who have not been active; they should then call those less active members just to see how they're doing--not to try to get them to work or do anything, just to let them know (in Christian charity) that the council is thinking about them and is concerned about them, all this in the Spirit of the Great Commandment: "You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. And the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself." God is counting on us NOT to give up on anyone, ever.

Having at least one Church Drive this fraternal year is also VERY important.

See http://iowakofc.org/profiles/blogs/decorah-knights-council-4208-to-... for information about the fall 2017 Decorah Knights' Church Drive.

Weekday Mass, instead of Rosary prayers for that day, is (of course!) perfectly appropriate and highly recommended. Weekday Mass plus the Rosary for that day is even better. :-)

More about forms:

Here's an email I (your humble DD for District 15, M) got from Brother Ed Pancrazio, the Administrative Assistant for the State Council of the Iowa Knights of Columbus, on 13 July 2017:

Brother Claude,
My motto is: "It's never too early to submit a form."
Brother Samuil and I are requesting the submission of forms as directed by WSD Bañuelos. You and all DD's will be hearing from us with frequency this fraternal year calling for forms.
Please ask your councils to submit not only the 185 and 365 but the 1295 audit. We want Iowa to lead the way with 100% forms to Supreme.

About forms: Forms are to the Knights of Columbus that nerves are to the body. No nerves = no communication & a person's body dies. No forms = no communication and the Knights of Columbus dies.
