Archbishop-emeritus Daniel Kucera OSB, a 52-year Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus, met his eternal reward on Tuesday, May 30. The Iowa Knights of Columbus bows in prayer and gratitude for his life and his priestly ministry as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Dubuque from 1984 to 1995, spanning State Deputies from Francis Schlueter, Tom Wittrock, Jim Murphy, Dick Matt, and Deneil Lutter.
The Knights have been requested to provide a Fourth Degree Honor Guard for the visitation on Monday, June 5 from 5:00- 7:00 PM and the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 6 at 11:00 AM. Both will be held at St. Raphael Cathedral. 231 Bluff Street in Dubuque. Swords are permitted. Please gather by 4:40 PM on Monday and 9:30 AM on Tuesday for instruction. Color Corps Commander Mike DeMoully will be the point of contact on Monday and State Warden Paul Lee will be the point of contact on Tuesday.
We hope many brother Knights and Sir Knights are able to come out to send one final farewell to a statesman of the Catholic Church in Iowa.
