Informed Choices of Iowa Opens New Clinic in Ames; Knights Supported Needed

With the growing need to help protect the unborn, the Iowa Knights of Columbus has once again been asked to step up and support the new Informed Choices of Iowa clinic now open in Ames at 1606 Golden Aspen #105.

Our goal is to raise $24,000 to help provide an ultrasound machine for this clinic. Ultrasound exams, which are medically indicated throughout pregnancy for a variety of diagnostic reasons, use ultrasound waves to scan a women’s abdomen, creating a picture or “sonogram” of the baby in her uterus. Without KofC support, most pregnancy care centers would be unable to purchase the ultrasound machines, each costing tens of thousands of dollars.

Reports indicate that up to 90 percent of women considering an abortion choose to have their baby after seeing an ultrasound image. They hear their baby’s heartbeat; they see their baby’s head and fingers. They know it is a child, not a “choice.”

When we are successful, this will be the third ultrasound machine the Knights of Columbus have donated in the State of Iowa. With your help, we can make this reality.
