Iowa Knights Continue to Answer Call to Supply Chalices for Kenyan Parishes

In March 2012, Father George Komo, Parochial Vicar at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in West Des Moines, approached the Iowa Knights of Columbus to expand his Kenyan chalices project started in Council Bluffs in 2010. Iowa Knights continue to respond positively to this effort.

After the December 2012 State Family meeting in Des Moines, State Warden Dan Werner presented Fr. Komo with four Fourth Degree chalices donated by the Garrigan Assembly 265 based in Sioux City.

Werner also presented Fr. Komo with a check to purchase additional chalices from the Bishop William L. Adrian Assembly 1941 based in Grinnell.

“I continue to be amazed at the generosity of my Brother Knights in this mission to supply parishes in my native Kenya with much needed new chalices,” shared Fr. Komo.

While the Iowa Knights of Columbus have taken the lead in supplying Fr. Komo with chalices, everyone is welcomed to donate one and/or funds so one can be purchased. If you would like to help, please contact Fr. Komo via phone [515-223-4577 x107] and/or via email [gkomo@saintfrancischurch.org] or your local Knights of Columbus Council or Assembly.
