The Costello family who are members of Saint Patrick’s Parish in Council Bluffs has had a challenging year.
It has been over a year now since Irene had her first stroke. That was followed by four smaller strokes. Through the grace of God, Irene has slight movement in her arms and has been attending therapy weekly. However, her care is 24/7 which has fallen to her husband Dan, a Knight of Saint Patrick Council 11296.
Irene’s health condition has put a financial strain on the Costello family. There is a need to sell their acreage in order to move into a more workable ranch style home. They have also turned to their children and others to help them make ends meet financially. This is where the Iowa Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation comes in.
Through its Helping Hands Fund, the Iowa Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation recently made a $500 donation to the Costello family. This donation is a prime example of the purpose of the Helping Hands Fund - to benefit any charitable purpose within the discretion of the Foundation based on need with no discriminating factors.
