Good of the Order- A Message from State Deputy Jon Aldrich
Our Culture of Life Committee held its second meeting today. Things are moving quickly. We have some potential sites for new or replacement ultrasound machines, fundraising efforts underway and we are working on a training conference for clinic directors and staff for all Iowa clinics. We have decided on the name for the new “Tootsie Pop” program. “Knights for Life”. It was the original theme so I’m not sure who to give the watch to. I’ll figure that one out soon. We will be rolling out the information at the state family meeting coming up next month. Your District Deputies will be delivering your materials at your district meetings. We will also have the information on the Iowa KofC website.
We are still looking for councils to begin fundraising for these efforts. This is that $52 per Knight goal over the next five years. Training and marketing are expensive to do properly so we need your help. A big thank you for the $10,500 donation from Carroll Council #780. Special recognition goes to PGK Clay Gubbels and GK Jay Masching for being inspired to set an ambitious goal and courageous to see it through. How many more councils will pick up the challenge to save babies in our state? You don’t have to wait for the Knights for Life program to roll out. Do a breakfast, a baby bottle drive or a raffle. Any way your council is comfortable with raising funds will work. The more it is clear what the funds are for, the more your parish should get behind your efforts.
Be Courageous. Act to day to save a baby!
I’m excited about the progress we are making and the fruits of our labors to come. I could write about it all night but our Worthy State Warden/Program Director wants me to be brief. He thinks he has a lot to say today.
Thank you for all you are doing for this great organization, your councils, your parishes and your priests.
Jon Aldrich, State Deputy
Iowa Knights of Columbus
