Catholics are invited to participate in a survey on challenges facing families today. Your responses will be used to prepare for the Extraordinary Synod called by Pope Francis to discuss this important issue. The Synod, entitled Pastoral Challenges to the Family in the Context of Evangelization, will convene in Rome in October 2014.
As a result, each of Iowa's dioceses has produced an online survey and is encourgaing all Iowa Catholics to complete by the deadline stated. The questions in the survey have been distributed from the Vatican to dioceses throughout the world. All responses will be forwarded to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) by the end of December.
The USCCB office will then collate all the responses from around the country and send them to the Synod of Bishops in the Vatican by the end of January 2014. And that office has the daunting job of incorporating the responses from around the world into the working document for the October meeting of the Bishops.
