The Silver Rose made its first stop in Iowa on July 2nd at SS Mary & Patrick church in West Burlington at a 6:00 service. 48 people attended. Service was conducted by Father David Stienle and the rose was processed to the altar by Sister Kathy Braun among the Honor Guard from Mackin Assembly 261 of Burlington. Council 568 of Burlington was the first council in Iowa to host the Silver Rose this year. One of the attendees had just buried a son in June and it was a very positive but moving experience, especially when, in the middle of the service, Father Stienle invited all in attendence to come to the rose, touch it and say a prayer for the unborn and corage for us to maintain the fight for the right of life.
